I am starting the fall season with some big News! After 9 month of working on this new project we have just launched the first season of our podcast Funny Feelings. We spent a lot of time with recording, editing, composing music and creating sound design and I am very proud to present the first episode to you.
Funny Feelings is hosted by Maria Geyman and I – and with Funny Feelings we explore the unconventional world of holistic medicine in New York City. Interviews range from a mother-daughter duo who trip on mushrooms together, to guests being interviewed while experiencing a vaginal steam for the first time, to an acupuncturist describing facial gua-sha while performing a treatment.
You can find Funny Feelings on Spotify, iTunes or through our website funnyfeelings.com

EMDR - Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
This January I was honored to study EMDR with Laurel Parnell and The Parnell Institute at the Open Center in NYC. EMDR, which stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a powerful tool to transform trauma and mend attachments. This technique uses bilateral stimulation to, as Laurel Parnell says, “light up and link up” past traumas and painful experiences to reprocess and heal.
It also works wonders if one is feeling stuck in their life, with unresolved issues, phobias, or physical pain. Rather than describe it to you, I would love to share my personal experience of EMDR.
Over the course of the training I experienced being both therapist and client a number of times. My first realization about EMDR was how deeply spiritual it is. As a client and therapist I experienced a kind of inner knowing that a deeper connection to truth was unraveling in front of me or for me. As a client I noticed how as I cleared one traumatic or upsetting experience, all other traumas related to the charged issue cleared. I visually saw an arc of a beautiful rainbow lighting up and clearing out.
There was another deep realization on a cellular level: I understood that when negative things happened in my youth, these harmful actions perpetrated by others truly had nothing to do with me. They weren’t personal. They were in fact about the person causing the harm. This seems like a very simple realization, but it is also very profound. When a child experiences a trauma they often blame themselves, and this deep wounding can cause self-esteem issues and other harmful patterns. Even though I knew this on an intellectual level, the EMDR work took it to a much deeper, visceral place.
Lastly, after these traumas were released, I had a deep confirmation about my life path and how I have always been connected to it. Growing up I was given the greatest gift of deep unconditional love from my grandma Dolly and my Mom. They saw my spiritual gifts and encouraged me to follow a healing path from a young age. This became so clear during my last EMDR session at the training. It was so beautiful: I truly felt my life force and understood what I have to share. My clients frequently say how loved they feel from me during our sessions, and I believe this is unconditional love from the Divine Mother working through me. This work is a true blessing.
I am excited to share EMDR with my fertility clients to clear fears about becoming pregnant, resolve traumatic experiences while trying to become pregnant, and help prepare to become a mother. I’m also excited to share this work and welcome others with different needs that are ready to take a deep journey into self-growth and awareness.
EMDR is a wonderful asset to my healing practice! See you soon!
A Personal Story of Arvigo Self Care

Healing and Spiritual work has been my true passion since I was a child. This lifelong desire to help others through spiritual healing led me to become a Reiki Master, Creative Art Therapist, Pregnancy Yoga Teacher, Massage Therapist, and a Certified Arvigo Practitioner®.
As a healer and someone who loves to explore healthy living in all areas of my life, I maintain a clean organic diet, drink filtered water, and follow a strong spiritual and exercise practice.

However, since the birth of my second child in 2012, I experienced a constant pain in my lower abdomen. On top of this, when I went into labor, I developed a 104 fever. Even after the vaginal delivery, the pain never went away. I went to many doctors and healers, but the pain remained, frustratingly unexplained.
In New York City in 2015, my flower essence therapist suggested I look into the Arvigo Technique® and that I read the book Sastun by Dr.Rosita Arvigo. The idea of becoming an Arvigo Practitioner resonated deeply in me, and I immediately read the book. According to Dr. Rosita Arvigo, the “Arvigo Technique of Maya Abdominal Therapy™ is an external, noninvasive, manipulation that helps to reposition reproductive organs and improve blood flow to the digestive organs. This simple massage shown to Dr. Arvigo by Don Elijio Panti, and later enlarged upon by Miss Hortence Robinson, has been developed and formulated into a comprehensive treatment. Through working into the abdomen it is possible to help the body achieve and maintain homeostasis-balance within and hemodynamics good blood circulation.” I felt intuitively drawn to the Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy™. I experienced my first Arvigo session and then signed up for Self Care in March 2015. When I attended Self Care in March, I fell completely in love with the Arvigo Technique and consistently practiced my Self Care. In June, I traveled to Portland, Oregon, for professional Arvigo training and became a practitioner. In November of 2015, at Certification Class with Dr.Rosita Arvigo, Dr. Arvigo stressed the importance of Self Care. For my healing process, I had one Arvigo Session and attended the Professional Care in June. I was and am completely devoted to my Self Care.
Right around the time I began reading Sastun, I had a thermogram with Periotherapist, Certified Clinical Thermographer, and Certified Body Talk Practitioner Tammy Kohlschmidt. A thermogram is a photo that captures the heat and inflammation in the body, which appears as colors. Cooler colors like blue indicate health, while red indicates heat and inflammation in the organs. The results of my first thermogram were shocking. There was so much red in the picture of my uterus and digestive tract, indicating excessive heat. I was upset but felt that the thermogram explained what was happening in my uterus. The image identified the pain that I was constantly experiencing.
In August of 2015, I returned to Tammy for my thermogram follow up. The results were incredible. The inflammation in my uterus was gone, and my digestive tract was mostly clear. The red colors on the monitor had changed to much lighter and cooler colors. At that moment, I realized I had not felt pain in months. When Tammy phoned me for my follow up, her first question was “What did you do?” Never had she seen such a drastic change. My answer to her was the Arvigo Technique of Maya Abdominal Therapy™/Self Care. Below, Tammy explains the two thermograms. The pictures show how powerful this work is.
Before Arvigo Self Care
Red indicates inflammation and congestion in the digestive organs, uterus and lymphatic system. Inflammation causing pain in my uterus.
6 months after Arvigo Self Care
All red inflammation and congestion in the digestive organs, uterus and lymphatic system are gone. Completely relieved from uterine pain.

As an advocate for self care I was very pleased to see the differences in Liza’s thermal imaging reports. It proves that taking the time to care for yourself is a major benefit for physical and emotional health and pushes us towards optimal healing, health and sustainability. Thermography as an assesstment tool has been very rewarding for me personally and for my patients. The information gained helps to guide and tailor the type of self care that is needed for their overall health. Thermography can assess the flow systems of the body and also monitor a disease process if there is one. Thermography measures temperature and compares symmetry or asymmetry as it pertains to the right and left side of the body. There is no radiation, no pain and no body contact. Thermography allows you to see what you may not yet feel.
Liza’s first thermography report showed varying degrees of lymphatic congestion and inflammation stemming from diaphragm restriction, pyloric valve tension as well as ileocecal valve spasms. These are contributing to the lack of digestive flow which also was causing inflammation in the large intestine- the Hepatic and Splenic flexure to be exact. Also noted was a red, circular, inflammatory heat pattern of the uterus.
Liza was given 6 months to work on the imbalances that were outlined in her report. During this six months she used the Arvigo techniques as her main driving force for self care. The second set of images were compared to the first set. The improvements were dramatic. Most of the inflammatory markers significantly improved in the diaphragm, stomach, small intestine, large intestine and in the uterus. However, slight distention remained in the small intestine near the ileocecal valve, showing that self care is an ongoing journey and process.
The changes were remarkable and reinforce my belief in the absolute importance of self care. In addition to an optimal diet, keeping the bodys flow systems functioning is the key to reducing inflammation and disease in our bodys ecosystem. If our flow systems are stagnant, we will be holding on to “pond”water – microbial and metabolic waste overgrowth. Arvigo is a self care technique that will keep our systems flowing like a river so that we can properly absorb, distribute and breakdown all of our bodys chemical reactions whether it be nutrients, hormones, microbes or metabolic wastes (just to name a few). The terrain of our body requires motion and flow- just like the ecosystem of our earth. Stagnation equals overgrowth of pond water which equals inflammation which equals the onset of disease.
Our well being is comprised of our spirit, our belief systems, our energetic systems, our structure and our chemistry. Thermography is an excellent assesstment tool for early disease detection and directs us on the road to better health. Arvigo is an excellent self care technique to accomplish these goals.
